It was a nail biting finish to the second IOA Invitational as Leona Maguire tied for the lead at 6 under Par

after 54 holes with Maria Parra (Spain), Madison Pressel (Florida) and Ssu-Chia Cheng (Chinese Taipei).

Parra, Pressel and Maguire each birdied the first playoff hole, while Cheng found the water. The three remaining players made their way to the 18th hole twice more all finishing with birdies. Following three trips down the par-5, it was back to the first and the 18th.
Birdies all round at the par-4 1st, so it was on to18. The fifth hole of the sudden-death playoff proved to be the deciding factor as Parra captured her first Symetra Tour title with an eagle.

It was just a matter of time before Maria Parra stepped into the winner’s circle on the Symetra Tour, having played the weekend in all five starts this season prior to teeing it up at Atlanta National Golf Club. The 21-year-old Spaniard carded a final round 2-under par before clinching victory on the fifth hole of a sudden-death playoff.

Leona Maguire on the outcome of the sudden-death playoff:

“If you would have told me this morning I would be in a playoff after being seven shots back at the start of the day, it was just a bonus. I was pretty tired coming into this week, so just wanted to try and play some solid golf. Maria played some incredible golf in the playoff and I couldn’t really do much more than that. I think we put a show on for the people still here. They weren’t easy holes, but I guess we made it look easier. Happy going into next week, back close to where I went to college.”
