Course records were shattered in both the Ladies’ and Men’s categories in the second event in the 2012-2013 Intervarsity Series at StrandhillPaulaGrantopt
University of Ulster student, Paula Grant carded a two-under par 70, a new Ladies Course Record, to cruise to a five-shot victory over Amy Farrell (DCU) and Sinead Sexton (NUIM).  Grant also won the opening intervarsity series event, played in November at Carton House and has now opened a comfortable lead at the top of the Order of Merit.
UCC’s Ian O’Rourke smashed the men’s course record at Strandhill Golf Club with a dazzling eight-under-par 62 to coast to victory in the second event in the Intervarsity Series. O’Rourke’s score was also a full five shots clear of NUIM’s Kieran Lynch, who posted a 67.  Alan Lowry (NUIM) and Mark Morrissey (IT Sligo) also broke par in perfect conditions, shooting 68 and 69 respectively.
Both competitions were played with full course conditions from the back tees on an immaculately prepared Strandhill links.
