Defending Champions Royal Portrush pictured with Team Captain Melanie Mitchell & Team Manager Maud Wilson won their 26th Irish Senior Cup title with a 3½-1½ victory over Kilkenny in final at Portumna Golf Club, 16 August.

THE FINAL The top match was a ding-dong affair with Mary Dowling coming from behind on several occasions and firing an up-and-down birdie on 17 to tie the match. Lucy Simpson responded admirably by finding the green at the short 18 and when Mary failed to get up and down once more, this time to a tricky pin position, Royal Portrush edged ahead in the fixture.
Victoria Bradshaw doubled their advantage with some fine iron play to defeat Eileen Rose Power on 17. Orla Dunphy pulled a match back for The Cats with a brave 4 footer for a final hole victory over Helen Jones but Hannah Henderson sealed the Irish Senior Cup title for a record 26th time for the Ulster side when she, on her Senior Cup debut, was conceded a half on 17 to close out her tie with Ann Smee.

Despite Chloe Ryan putting Castletroy into an early lead after defeating Lucy Simpson 5/4, Royal Portush proved much too strong for the Shannonsiders winning the next 3 matches without reply.
The second semi final proved a much tighter affair with the lead changing umpteen times. Enniscorthy raced ahead with the King twins Nicola and Jennifer once again producing the goods to give the Wexford side a 2 match lead. Kilkenny dug deep and levelled the tie with wins from stalwarts Mary Dowling and Eileen Rose Power on the home green. This paved the way for seasoned campaigner Mary Leahy Browne to step up to the plate, which she duly did holing from 5 feet at the last to book a final berth with Royal Portrush at 9.30am on Saturday morning.
