A selection of Ireland’s top amateurs drew 4½-4½ with top players from Pennsylvania State University over the challenging links at The Island, Dublin, 8th March 2013.
The course was in superb condition and all players were delighted to play such true greens particularly so early in the season.

The pin placements provided a tough challenge but the spectators were treated to some wonderful ball striking and spectacular golf from both teams with many birdies on show.
With all 18 players ranging in handicap from +4 to 3, the match was finely balanced at 4 apiece when Donaghadee’s Jessica Ross teed it up on 18 all square. The downwind par 5 saw both competitors hit the green with an iron in two strokes and, with PSU safely home in birdie, Ross coolly slotted a 4ft downhill right to left putt to square the match.
