  Lisburn’s Paula Grant (pictured with Gary Hurley) won the prestigeous R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament over The Eden and Old Course at St. Andrews, 8-9 April. Leading the field by 7 strokes overnight, after two very impressive 68s, Paula’s lead was slashed to just one stroke after Kelsey MacDonald (Stirling) closed with a 71.   Mid West Ladies Golf Society held its Inaugural Golf Outing at Rathbane Golf Club on Sunday April 7.  Despite the Baltic weather conditions and the clash of fixtures with the Munster Harlequins game, fifteen ladies braved the elements in what went on to be a terrific afternoon.  Fun, Friendly, Sociable golf was the order of the day and this theme was certainly evident in the clubhouse afterwards.         Royal Portrush’s Stephanie Meadow  came of age firing a one under par 71 in the third round at the Kraft Nabisco LPGA tour event at Mission Hills Country Club, Rancho Mirage, California. Ulster won the Interprovincial Matches from Leinster at Castle Dargan Co.Sligo.  In a tense final afternoon, both teams secured two and a half points overall but Ulster took the title on matches won, 20 against 19 from Leinster. RCD Ladies’ Olivia Mehaffey  leads the Irish Challenge after an opening 73 at the weather delayed Scottish U16 Girls Open Strokeplay at Strathmore, 4-5 April 2013. Mehaffey birdied the 2nd and 12th and then solidly parred the last 4 holes to lie just one stroke behind leader Alice Hewson (ENG) after she birdied the last to sign for a level par 72.
